WILLY VANDERPERRE prints, films, a rave and more…

MoMu highlights the oeuvre of the Belgian fashion photographer Willy Vanderperre. His rebellious vision of youth and beauty earned him commissions for such renowned fashion houses as Prada and Dior, and influential magazines, including AnOther Magazine, Dust, i-D, Perfect, Vogue and W Magazine.

In the exhibition, pure portraiture is alternated with cinematic images and highlights how Vanderperre's fascination with youth has been a motivational force for almost three decades. In dialogue with his photographs, Vanderperre has also selected several works of art that inspire him in the ongoing development of his universe. The overview of his photographic work explores the evolution of his visual language, as well as the collaboration with his life partner, consultant and stylist Olivier Rizzo and with Raf Simons.

For nearly thirty years, Vanderperre’s oeuvre has been distinguished by his sharp eye, full of emotion and rebellion. The exhibition guides you through his universe, from dark to light. In the accompanying texts and monologue, you read and hear his own voice. Consistent with his identification with youth and subcultures, he has developed an associated programme with film, music and the launch of his limited Collectible Items in the form of Drops, which are for sale at the exhibition entrance.

The exhibition WILLY VANDERPERRE features (explicit) images of naked people.

Collection presentation

MoMu’s collection presentation looks back at four decades of Belgian fashion, complemented by a selection from the museum’s historical collection. The exhibition gives an overview of the most important protagonists of Belgian fashion, based on the themes that characterise the distinctive nature of the MoMu Collection.

Baloji Augurism.

With Baloji Augurism., the MoMu Gallery will be transformed into a place of magical realism: the intriguing world of Baloji. The exhibition is inspired by his latest feature film Augure and the related albums, and gives us a new perspective on his artistic practice.

Videos, masks, garments, and installations look into the culture, philosophy, and ritual of both individual and collective contemporary Belgian and Congolese identity.
