Top model Hannelore Knuts invites you to the launch of her book HK & ik. De paradoxen van topmodel Hannelore Knuts at MoMu. In a candid conversation with Jani Kazaltzis, Hannelore shares the how, what and why behind her book. The talk will be followed by an exclusive book signing session.

Hannelore Knuts helped ignite the Belgian Wave in the late 1990s. She challenged gender norms and became a model to leading designers and photographers such as Karl Lagerfeld, Steven Meisel, Inez & Vinoodh, Juergen Teller and Tim Walker. Her international modelling career saw her walk in over 240 shows for fashion houses such as Alexander McQueen, Dior, Chanel, Gaultier, Lacroix and Valentino. She appeared on countless magazine covers, from Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar to Numéro, Wallpaper* and Dazed.

To mark the release of her book, Hannelore has designed a series of limited edition T-shirts and a hoodie exclusively for MoMu – available in the MoMu Shop from 14 October.

HK & ik. De paradoxen van topmodel Hannelore Knuts

One student fashion show was all it took for Hannelore Knuts to find herself on runways across the globe. The distinctively dressed girl from Limburg quickly caught the attention of international designers and photographers – Jean Paul Gaultier, Alexander McQueen, Prada… the icons of fashion. Not that she realised it at the time. Her career took off at such a dizzying pace that she had to navigate it on her own terms. From walking in stilettos to posing for the cover of Vogue, from social challenges to the financial realities of modelling, fashion became a masterclass in the school of life.

In HK & ik. De paradoxen van topmodel Hannelore Knuts, published by Borgerhoff & Lamberigts, she offers a rare glimpse into her journey through the fashion industry. What really happens behind the scenes in Paris, New York and Milan? Knuts shares her story from the perspective of an outsider on the inside. Because the life of a top model isn’t always picture perfect, especially when you’re still searching for your own place in the world.
