MoMu Takeover: As Within, So Without – Layers of You

As Within, So Without – Layers of You brings together six young makers from the youth projects MoMu Young Voices and REVERSE: Tijs de Wit, Asmara Putri, Inya Huybrechts, Nina Augustinus, Kyra Dens and Stanley Summerville. Drawing on different practices and perspectives, they explore how identity is formed, changes and takes shape.

Under the guidance of creative director Alex Akuete, an immersive environment emerges where fashion and philosophy come together. Different perspectives on identity and self-image form the basis for a personal and shared experience. The performance invites visitors to move beyond being spectators and actively take part in the experience.

As Within, So Without – Layers of You creates space for slowing down, reflection and encounter, exploring how our view of ourselves and the world can shift.

Emiel Declercq, with Handpan Brussels, leads sound journeys centred on sound and space. Through the handpan, he creates moments to slow down, listen and connect. In workshops, sound journeys and intimate gatherings, the instrument is not only played, but experienced together.

Michiko Lii is a performance artist, host and arts facilitator working at the intersection of spoken word and contemporary movement. In their practice, Michiko explores how stories, identities and experiences take shape through language and the body. As a facilitator, moderator and queer spokesperson, they bring experience from both artistic and activist practices.

Zoë Chungong is a dancer and maker. She has worked with, among others, Jan Martens, Lisi Estaràs and Laura Neyskens. Since 2023, she has been developing her own work through residencies at Nona, DansBrabant and CAMPO. She followed the VAART maker programme by fABULEUS and created the solo performance The ethereal paradox.

Project Klank is an interactive musical experience in which sound emerges through rhythm, movement and collaboration. Visitors experiment with sound and add their own contribution to an ever-changing composition. The result is a shared musical experience that exists only in that moment and in that place.

As Within, So Without – Layers of You follows from Solidarity Project, an artistic and participatory project centred around meeting, exchange and connection within a European youth framework. Through art, conversations and different forms of gathering, the project brings young people and makers together around social themes and diverse perspectives.
