Following the audiovisual installation RESOLUCIÓN: On lifetime decisions in Spanish cinema, De Cinema and EUROPALIA present a film cycle of the same name, featuring seven remarkable films from Spain, the guest country of EUROPALIA 2025. Each film revolves around a single colour. Each colour reveals something about womanhood and the era in which the film was made. The rainbow shines as a symbol of sexual freedom and diversity. It represents inclusivity, hope and a celebration of all facets of human identity.

Vestida de azul (1983, Antonio Giménez-Rico)
A documentary in which six transgender people tell in their own words what their lives were like in Spain during the eighties. They are six real characters: Lorenzo, René, José Antonio, Paco, Juan, and José, and how and why they became Lorena, Renée, Nacha, Eva, Tamara, and Jossete, respectively.
A raw and truthful documentary and an essential document for the fight for LGBTQIA+ rights in Spain. Filmed just a few years after Franco’s death, Vestida de azul reflected a moment of openness and desire for change in Spain and opened space for reflection on sexual and gender diversity in Spanish society. Recently restored, the film combines testimonies, dramatic reenactments, and observational following of the characters as had never been done before in the genre. Only one fiction film, Cambio de sexo (1977) by Vicente Aranda, present in the video installation RESOLUCIÓN: On lifetime decisions in Spanish cinema, had addressed the subject so openly.
