Description of the exhibition
Due attention is payed to those fashion and shoe designers who used their skills and artistic vision to leave an imprint in the history of fashion design. The exhibiton shows both the Hollywood glamour of Salvator Ferragamo, the "shoemaker of dreams" for Marilyn Monroe, as well as sneakers by Raf Simons, and rebellious boots by Vivienne Westwood, and Walter Van Beirendonck, among many others.
The exhibition is composed of selections from MoMu's shoe collection, a long term loan from collectors Geert Burloot and Eddy Michiels, and is supplemented with over 400 unique items from the archives of designers, collectors, and other international museums.
The exhibition features pieces by Maison Margiela, Dirk Bikkembergs, Ann Demeulemeester, Dries Van Noten, A.F. Vandevorst, Manolo Blahnik, Christian Louboutin, Tokio Kumagaï, Roger Vivier, J.W. Anderson, Balenciaga, André Perugia, Vivienne Westwood, Salvatore Ferragamo, Patrick Cox, Raf Simons, Pierre Hardy, and Azzedine Alaïa.
