For the very first time in his career designer Dries Van Noten has disclosed his oeuvre in an exhibition that presents an intimate journey into his artistic universe, revealing the singularity of his creative process which he illustrates alongside numerous sources of inspirations.

Description of the exhibition

The exhibition brings together various artistic fields through an assemblage of historical, pictoral, ethnic, cinematic, and geographical references. While stressing the influences, analogies, and contradictions in Dries Van Noten's work, the exhibition combines fashion design with the world of decorative and fine arts in order to illustrate the Belgian designer's distinctive techniques and stylistic vocabulary.

It features artistic works by visual artists including Yves Klein, Thierry De Cordier, Victor Vasarely, Damien Hirst, Cecily Brown, Pol Bury, Christopher Wool, Hubert Duprat, Pablo Picasso, Mark Rothko, and James Tissot.

"Dries Van Noten: Inspirations" was initiated and realised by Les Arts Décoratifs, Paris (01/03-02/11/14) and organised in Antwerp by MoMu - Fashion Museum Province of Antwerp.
