Use 3D technology to make a historical garment your own. In this hands-on workshop, you’ll work with a digitized piece from the MoMu Study Collection, adjust it to your size using VStitcher software, and leave with a ready-to-sew pattern made by and for you.

Together with Bakermat and MoMu, you’ll explore the basics of 3D virtual prototyping, starting with the creation of a digital avatar based on your own body measurements. Once your avatar is set, you’ll choose one of three digitized garments from the MoMu Study Collection as your starting point: a Japanese kimono ensemble, a 1950s dress, or an asymmetrical vest.

You’ll resize the selected piece to fit your custom avatar, and from there, the design is yours to shape. Want to shorten the dress? Change the sleeve? Add a new collar or neckline? You’ll have the chance to customise the pattern to suit your personal style. At the end of the day, you’ll go home with a made-to-measure, ready-to-sew digital pattern — designed entirely by you.
