Exhibition in virtual reality

MoMu, Cousteau and Olivier Theyskens have joined forces to create a 360° video experience that takes visitors on a virtual tour of the exhibition, guided by the voice of Olivier Theyskens that envelops you in an intimate atmosphere.

This artistically and technically astonishing production was made in cooperation with our Belgian partner Cousteau and Google Arts & Culture. It offers a glimpse of the future, a future in which MoMu will continue to build on its pioneering role as an innovative and experimental museum and where online visitors can also enjoy the complete exhibition experience.

This dynamic experience shows top Belgian model Kim Peers walking through the exhibition. The visitor sees her appearing and disappearing again, like the enigmatic woman with “raven tress” in Lord Byron’s poem “She Walks in Beauty”, which Olivier Theyskens reads aloud.

Gradually the virtual tour takes you through the different parts of the exhibition, from the darkly romantic atmosphere of the dramatic dresses of Theyskens’ early career to his lighter Nina Ricci period and the start of his own label Olivier Theyskens.

The final phase takes visitors to the 2018 spring-summer show in Paris, as if they were exclusive guests with front-row seats. The rustling silk dresses, the atmosphere of the Paris decor and the models stepping down the catwalk really come alive in this must-see experience showcasing the career of an idiosyncratic Belgian designer.

Interactive studio Cousteau created this 360° experience. The objective they shared with MoMu and Olivier Theyskens was to take the viewer right inside the designer’s mind. With their state-of-the-art 360° camera they have brought the exhibition to life, sparing neither cost nor effort in post-production to make this a truly unique experience.

This experience is uniquely made available via a new technology so you can enjoy the 360° not only on your smartphone or on your desktop, but also via the most popular VR headsets, such as cardboard VR , Samsung Gear VR, Daydream VR, the Oculus Rift and the HTC Vive. Making it easy for everyone to get into VR!
