P.LACE.S – Looking through Antwerp lace’ sheds light on the socio-economic and artistic importance of the lace that was made and traded in Antwerp. MoMu brought together historical lace, paintings and archival documents from European and American collections and placed the entirety in a broader context, to show that Flemish lace had a prominent presence in fashion, interiors and liturgies for centuries. The role of women and girls in both the production and trade of lace will also be highlighted. MoMu will present this rich history in dialogue with contemporary, often high-tech fashion creations whose form or concept refers to lace.

Although the exhibition will take place at 5 locations in Antwerp, during this guided tour you will only visit MoMu, where you will discover the more fashionable and contemporary aspects of lace.

The rest of the exhibition at the other locations (Snijders&Rockox House, Maidens' House Museum, Plantin-Moretus Museum and Carolus Borromeus) can be visited independently with a free visitor's guide until Sunday 2 January 2022.

You will need to buy an entry ticket on the door for each of these locations. The information on the MoMu ticket entitles you to a decent discount on the entrance fees for each of these locations.
