This price includes a visit to the exhibition Masquerade, Make-up & Ensor.
Make-up legend Inge Grognard has been making her mark on the face of Belgian and international fashion since the late eighties. Therefore, her singular perspective on beauty could not be missing from Masquerade, Make-up & Ensor.
During her MoMu Talk, the Belgian make-up artist will elaborate on her career and vision. After the talk, you can visit the exhibition.
Grognard reflects on her close collaborations, beginning with Martin Margiela and the Antwerp Six early in her career, and continuing with the next generation of Belgian designers such as Raf Simons, Veronique Branquinho, Jurgi Persoons, Haider Ackermann, A.F. Vandevorst, and Wim Neels. Today, she works with a new wave of designers, including Demna at Balenciaga and Glenn Martens at Y/Project and Diesel.
In both her personal projects and collaborations, Inge Grognard consistently explores the concept of emptiness. Skin manipulations, such as traces and markings, form a recurring theme in her work. Grognard first applies her experiments on herself, staying true to an artisanal approach. Her work is a response to the world, rooted in emotion, rawness, and passion. She seeks a certain friction, striving for freedom in both her art and life: “I don’t sell products, I sell ideas”.
